Long-term mortgage interest rates hovered slightly higher in the latest week, according to data from Freddie Mac, taking a break from recent dramatic ups and downs. The average rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage (FRM) rose to 3.75% with an average 0.6 point during the week ended July 3, up from 3.73% the week before but down from 4.52% a year earlier. Fifteen-year FRM rates averaged 3.18% with 0.5 point, up from 3.16% the previous week and down from 3.99% the year before.
